The Holy Mount Kailash Overland Tour via Kyrung is one of the easiest and most economical ways to reach Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, beginning from Kathmandu, Nepal. The journey starts with a sacred visit to the Holy Pashupatinath Temple before traveling by road toward the Timure border. Pilgrims may also opt for a more comfortable experience by taking a helicopter from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi/Timure at an additional cost of USD 1500 for a one-way flight. After crossing the border, the route continues through Kyrung, Saga, and Paryang before arriving at the divine Lake Mansarovar, where devotees perform puja, hawan, tarpan, and spiritual purification. The Yatra then proceeds to the Mount Kailash Parikrama via Darchen, Dirapuk, and Zuthulpuk, offering an unforgettable spiritual experience. Upon completing the Parikrama, pilgrims return to Kathmandu to offer holy water and final prayers at the Pashupatinath Temple. Kailashtreks.com warmly invites Lord Shiva’s devotees to join this overland Yatra via Kathmandu and Kyrung during the upcoming season from May to September 2026.

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are revered as the spiritual center of creation and the universe. Since ancient times, sages, seekers, philosophers, and devotees have experienced profound spiritual bliss in the presence of these sacred sites. Mount Kailash is known by several divine names—Meru, Sumeru, Hemadri (Golden Mountain), Ratnasanu (Jewel Peak), Karnikachala (Lotus Mountain), Amaradri, Deva Parvatha, and more. Regarded as Swayambhu (self-manifested), it is believed that all creation emerges from this cosmic center and ultimately returns to it.
Spiritual texts describe Mt. Kailash as the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, symbolizing the eternal union of Purusha and Prakriti. The silvery peak radiates truth, wisdom, and bliss (Sachidanandam). Performing a parikrama of Mt. Kailash and taking a holy dip in Lake Mansarovar are believed to purify one’s soul, liberating devotees from past sins and the cycle of rebirth.
For Hindus
Mt. Kailash is the ultimate seat of Lord Shiva. Rituals performed at Mansarovar and the Parikrama are believed to grant moksha and unite the devotee with the supreme consciousness.
For Buddhists
Buddhists revere Kailash as Kang Rinpoche and Mansarovar as Tso Mapham. They worship Demchok (a wrathful form of Buddha) and believe that pilgrimage to this region leads to Nirvana. Sacred sites such as Dolma La (Devi) and Gauri Kund (Thukizhingbu) hold deep spiritual importance.
For Jains
Jains know Kailash as Astapada, the site where Adinath Rishabhdev, the first Tirthankara, attained nirvana.
For Sikhs
Local legends associate the region with Guru Nanak, with a revered monastery housing a peaceful marble statue believed by some to represent him.
A Sacred Experience Beyond Religion
The landscapes of Kailash and Mansarovar radiate an indescribable spiritual energy. Even those who are not religious often feel a deep sense of peace and inner balance in this tranquil region. It is widely believed that only those destined for this sacred journey ultimately reach here
