Tour Details

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Nepal – Overland Tour via Kathmandu & Kerung

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Nepal takes pilgrims to the sacred Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake, believed to be the center of creation and the universe, existing since the beginning of time. For centuries, sages, philosophers, devotees, and seekers have been drawn into a blissful trance at the very sight of this divine Himalayan grandeur. Every year, thousands of pilgrims embark on the Kailash Yatra from Nepal to experience eternal peace, spiritual awakening, and inner transformation. Undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with Kailash Treks is considered a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual journey, combining devotion, sacred adventure, and profound serenity.

Renowned as the sacred abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, Mount Kailash symbolizes the eternal philosophy of Purusha and Prakriti—Shiva and Shakti. The radiant silvery summit represents Truth, Wisdom, and Bliss (Sachidanandam). According to ancient scriptures, the primordial sound AUM (Nadabindu) gave rise to universal creation, while the cosmic vibrations (Dhvani) from Lord Shiva as Nataraja formed the essence of Atman, the ultimate truth. Scriptures proclaim that devotees who take a holy dip in Mansarovar Lake and perform the Kailash Parikrama are absolved of sins across generations and attain spiritual liberation, ultimately merging with Lord Shiva. In essence, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Nepal transforms the pilgrim at the soul level.

Beyond Hinduism, the region holds immense significance for Buddhist pilgrims. Buddhists worship Demchok (Chakrasamvara), the wrathful manifestation of Buddha, believed to reside atop Mount Kailash. Known as Kang Rinpoche in Buddhism and Mansarovar as Tso Mapham, the site is deeply revered. Great masters such as Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) and Saint Milarepa are venerated here. As Tantrism forms the spiritual core of Tibetan Buddhism, many rituals and beliefs closely parallel Hindu traditions. Sacred sites like Dolma (Devi) and Gauri Kund (Thuki Zingbu) are equally revered, and Buddhists believe that pilgrimage here leads to Nirvana.

Jains recognize Mount Kailash as Astapada and Mansarovar as Padmahrada, believing that Adinath Rishabhadeva, the first Tirthankara, attained Nirvana at this holy place. Sikh tradition also associates the region with Guru Nanak, who is believed to have meditated here. Across the Chu River, on the Nyanri Range, stands a monastery housing a marble statue believed to represent Guru Nanak, radiating peace and compassion.

The entire Kailash Mansarovar region resonates with powerful spiritual vibrations. Even those without religious inclination often discover profound balance and inner stillness amidst this boundless serenity. It is widely believed that only those divinely ordained are destined to experience the sacred journey to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake.

Holy Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake – Spiritual Significance of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Nepal

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Nepal takes you to the holy Mt Kailash and Mansarovar Lake, the center of creation & the Universe, which are as old as the creation. Thousands of Sages, Ordinary Mortals, Philosophers, and even Gods had been submerged in the blissful trance at the very sight of this divine grandeur. Many pilgrims and devotees every year embark on the Kailash Yatra from Nepal to feel the eternal peace and to be submerged in spirituality. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with Kailash Treks is one of the must-visit places and one of the must-do tasks in the entire life. The deep spiritual connection, holy and sacred adventure, the immense peace, and many other things make this place unique.

Famously known to be an abode of LORD SHIVA and his divine consort PARVATI, Mt. Kailash expounds the philosophy of PURUSHA and PRAKRITI - SHIVA and SHAKTI. The radiant SILVERLY summit is the throne of TRUTH, WISDOM, and BLISS - SACHIDANANDAM. The primordial sound AUM (NADABINDU) from the tinkling anklets of LALITA PRAKRITI created the visible patterns of the universe, and the vibrations (DVANI) from the feet of Lord Shiva (NATARAJA) weaved the essence of ATMAN, the ultimate truth. The scriptures reiterate that one who takes the holy dip at Mansarovar and carries out the Parikrama around Kailash is absolved of his/her sins through generations and is absorbed into the Supreme Finality. There is no rebirth; sorrows or joy, and he/she will be with ultimate – the Lord Shiva. In other words, the Kailash Mansarovar yatra from Nepal makes them Shiva.

In addition to the Hindus, the entire region is also one of the most important pilgrimage centers for the Buddhists. They worship DEMCHOK (Buddha in a forceful form), seated on the summit of Kailash. It is also called Dharmapala; one version quotes the deity as a form of Shiva’s manifestation. The description of the deity is more or less like Shiva. Devi is also given a similar form to Parvati. Buddhists adore Kailash as KANG RINGPOCHE and Mansarovar as TSO MAPHAM. Guru Rinpoche (The great Indian Master PADMASAMBHAVA, who introduced Buddhism) and Saint Milerapa are greatly revered here by the pilgrims. Since TANTRISM runs through the main core of Buddhism here, their customs and practices would be found running close and parallel to Hindu traditions. Like Hindus, they also consider DOLMA (DEVI) and GAURI KUND (ThukiZingbu) as the holiest spots. Buddhists strongly believe that pilgrimage to this place liberates them to NIRVANA.

Besides, Jains acknowledge Kailash as ASTAPADA and PADMAHRADA. It is believed that ADINATH VRISHABDEVA, the first Tirthankara, attained Nirvana here. A few claim that GURU NANAK meditated here. Across the river CHU, there on the Nyanri range stands an impressive temple. Inside this monastery, there is a marble statue radiating peace and compassion. This statue is claimed to be that of Guru Nanak.

The entire area echoes with spiritual vibrations. Even the agnostics shall discover new balance amidst that fathomless serenity. One has to experience it. The common belief is that those who are ordained could be there.
